New Patient Information

Registration and acceptance

We welcome private and NHS patients of all ages. NHS registration is dependent on the availability of spaces, so please contact the reception team about NHS places at the surgery. Our friendly receptionists can give you all the details about registering as a new patient over the phone, so please contact the practice on 01276 471929. When you come into the practice, you will be asked to fill in some forms with your personal details and answer some simple questions about your health and dental health. Please note that NHS places at the practice are limited, so do not hesitate to contact us if you interested in joining the register.

What happens when I come to the practice for the first time?

When you arrive at the practice you will be asked to fill in some forms (this will not take long) with details about your medical and dental history, your contact details and details of any medication you take regularly or any allergies you suffer from. You will then see your dentist and your dentist will have a chat with you and examine your mouth thoroughly to see if you require any treatment or to see how treatment will work if you have expressed an interest in having treatment before the appointment.

We understand that for many patients, going to the dentist is nerve-wracking and we encourage nervous patients to talk to their dentist, so that the dentist is aware of their anxiety and can adapt their approach to best suit the patient's needs.

If you have any concerns or questions, your dentist will happily answer them and they will discuss the next step, whether it be arranging a check-up six months down the line or arranging an appointment or consultation for a course of treatment.

If you have seen a dentist with a specific treatment in mind, your dentist will be able to give you an accurate idea of the cost and they will also explain how the treatment works, how long it takes and what it involves.

Emergency appointments

We also offer emergency dental appointments; if you suffer an accident or injury or you experience sudden or severe dental pain during surgery hours, ring the practice and we will do our best to see you as quickly as possible. If you require treatment when the surgery is closed, call the practice and follow the instructions on the answer phone message to arrange urgent care. You can also call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
